Depending on where you are in South Africa, you can quite easily experience the proverbial four seasons in one day. Freezing winters and sweltering hot summer days, interspersed with the occasional hurricane mean that your business needs to invest in weather-proof signs.
Without sacrificing design and impact, what are the best materials for weather-proof signs which will look great, and stand the test of time?
The Best Materials for Weather-Proof Signs
Aluminium
Due to its light weight and anti-corrosive properties, aluminium is an affordable and popular option. Depending on your requirements, you can choose a thinner gauge which will suffice for smaller signage such as for property agents, or you can opt for the heavy duty aluminium which are often used as road signs. (Those aren’t going anywhere fast!)
Aluminium Dibond
Aluminium dibond is a more costly option, but also offers a long-wearing and beautifully clean finish. Ideal for detailed imagery, this product is a combination of aluminium and a strong polyethylene
There are several methods getting your ad onto aluminium for a long-lasting display; your choice depends largely on your budget.
Vinyl
Vinyl is not as strong as metal and certainly won’t last as long, but a vinyl sign will do its job perfectly for a season. Lightweight and cost-effective, vinyl is used in retail, seasonal functions, or election campaigns.
Polyester
Banner flags for outdoor events or expos are often made from polyester. It is easy to print on and hardy enough to last a few months. In fact, depending on their use, banners and other material flag-type signs can last a couple of years if cared for correctly. They are an inexpensive way to show and tell.
Of course, there are plenty of options to get your message out there onto a hard-wearing, weather-proof sign. If you’d like to know more then please feel free to give us a call and one of our friendly team will be happy to assist.
