Stand Out with 3D Mould Signage

Three dimensional or 3D moulds of letters, logos and signs have long been one of the most impactful forms of available signage and are guaranteed to make an elegant and professional statement about your business, your product or your service.

3D signs tend to be the most selected by a large majority of consultants, designers and architects and are especially popular with large retail malls around the world because not only are they highly visible, but they add an upmarket and modern feel to any place of business.

They are also often used as interior building and reception area signs, exterior signs, commercial signs and as signs to identify a building or complex.

The three most common methods used to create the 3D effect for this type of signage are:

  • Laminating or fixing several layers of material together to create a thicker material that can be cut and shaped.
  • Using laser letter cut-outs which are raised a distance from a surface to create a 3-dimensional look when viewed from the front.
  • Pan lettering or fabricated moulded lettering (3D moulds) which have welded sides and are constructed to have a specific ‘boxed’ depth and are easily visible from multiple positions.

3D moulds can be custom made up to very large sizes and may be mounted flat against a wall or raised away from the surface on pins or ‘feet’ to give extra depth and dimension to the signage.

This type of three-dimensional signage can also be illuminated for added drama. You can choose between illumination that simply lights up the face of the sign or illumination from behind, which will create a glowing effect around the sign. Generally, whether the sign has an open or closed back, the type of material used to manufacture the sign will, however, determine how the sign can be illuminated.

The choice of materials we use to create the perfect 3D moulds are Plaster of Paris, Perspex or Fibreglass. When making a decision on the best material to use for your signage, one should consider the location of the sign and the type of weather it would be exposed to throughout the year to make sure that it stands up well to the test of time which will also save you on maintenance costs in the long term.

Some examples of our 3D moulds include Standard Bank, Makro and Gold Reef City.
